‘Great oaks from little acorns grow’ is a term often used to describe an organisation or a business which has developed from humble beginnings into a success story. We thought you may be interested in our journey to date so let us put you in the ‘oak’ frame.
We are a progressive, family owned company with a policy of employing skilled local staff in our offices and workshops. A new purpose built office with integral product display areas is part of our ongoing development plans. This will enable us to further expand our services and employ more people from this fantastic area in which we are privileged to live and work.
Our ‘Oak Tree’ continues to flourish and grow – we feel that our deep rooted experience with oak framing and ‘all things wood’ along with our dedication to offering products and services of the highest quality puts our customers in the very best of hands.
Our founder/MD began his career working in the forests of Radnorshire and the surrounding counties. The business developed into a significant forestry contracting and woodland management company supplying UK sawmills with native broadleaf and conifer forest products as well as planting and managing many thousands of trees. These early experiences have given Radnor a real insight and understanding of the importance of sustainable timber in the construction industry.
By the end of the 1980’s the business had diversified significantly and traded as Radnor Timber Company. Our own sawmill was created to produce oak beams, planks and other structural timber components for the construction industry and included a timber processing plant with drying kilns to produce components for joinery products such as doors, windows, floors and staircases.
In 1990 we established our framing workshops to produce traditionally jointed oak frames and joinery products. Skilled local designers, carpenters, joiners and construction teams were employed to create our first oak framed buildings. Bespoke oak frames became the mainstay of the framing business in the early days but pre-designed oak buildings were added to the products offered as the company quickly developed into oak framing and joinery specialists.
2013 gave us the opportunity to re-locate to our new offices and workshop at Broadaxe Business Park. The move enabled us to inject fresh energy into our business development and strategic planning. In order for the business to reflect its core products and services, whilst retaining its original identity, the company re-branded to Radnor Oak Ltd.
Annual investment in new equipment, technology & design software, product development and market research ensure that we remain efficient and extremely competitive, and we are proud that we won’t be beaten for price on a ‘like for like’ basis.
We have designed thousands of oak framed garages and buildings, many of which can be viewed on our website products. A filtering system offers our customers the opportunity to select from the ever-expanding range of pre-designed buildings or customise them to suit their requirements.
During Covid we spotted that there was gap in the market for high quality timber buildings. There were lots of cheap and cheerful offerings available, but none that looked traditional and were built to last.
We have developed a range of Luxury Sheds, Workshops and Summerhouses that include maintenance free weatherboarding which we use on our oak framed buildings. The doors and windows are double-glazed and the interior is ply lined. Cedar shingles are fitted to the roof and residential grade ironmongery fitted to the doors and windows.

In 2006 a show site was completed to offer visiting customers a selection of timber buildings and oak frame features to view as part of their decision making process (please note that visits are managed by appointment).

We are market leaders for free standing oak framed buildings where quality is never compromised and every effort is made to ensure our prices remain competitive. It is important to us that our timber building products stand out from those of our competitors and are of the highest quality available, offering true ‘value’ to our customers. Our oak frame buildings offer features as standard that are only offered as options elsewhere.
The ‘chunky’ nature and sturdy appearance of Radnor Oak Buildings have become our signature – we could use smaller, less expensive sections of oak and timber simply to save money. We would then, however, not be offering the highest quality. We can deliver to anywhere in the UK and into Europe. Our buildings and associated products can be installed by competent tradespeople following our working drawings. If site services are required we operate with a network of Approved Contractors who offer site visits, advice and professional turnkey operations in most areas of the UK.
